Abstract This Resolution is composed of 3 articles. Importation of all species of live birds and their fresh, frozen and deep frozen meat, hatching eggs, eggs for human consumption as well as raw feathers of birds from all countries is absolutely prohibited (art. 1). Article 2 defines the following requirements and conditions for the importation of bird feathers: (a) the feathers shall be treated with disinfectants and thermal sterilization; (b) the application shall be presented to the Animal Resources Department; (c) the feathers shall be washed with hot water as well as with disinfectant and fat remover; and, (d) the feathers shall be dried at a temperature of 120 centigrade for at least 20 minutes. The consignment of bird feathers shall be analyzed in the Alfanar laboratory to verify that they are free from diseases (art. 3).
