Abstract

The aim of this Resolution is to regulate the importation,circulation and registration of pesticides. It is composed of 14 articles. Article 1 defines pesticides. Article 2 prohibits the importation, introduction and circulation of pesticides before their registration at the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform. Article 3 defines requirements and conditions for the importation and introduction of new pesticides. Article 4 deals with the registration steps. Article 5 fixes the duration of field trials on one pesticide from 1 to 2 years. Article 6 specifies the tests to be carried out before the registration of a pesticide. Article 7 provides for the necessary information to be provided with pesticides. Article 8 entrusts the Technical Committee for Pesticides Testing to modify, add or substitute of any pesticide. Articles 9 and 10 deal with the revocation and renewal of the registration of pesticides. Article 11 entrusts the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform to issue an annual bulletin containing names of pesticides, which are in circulation in Syria. Article decrees the establishment of the Pesticides Registration Committee.
