Abstract

The Resolution lays down technical regulations for control procedures for potato brown rot in Georgia. Specifically, it aims to control Ralstonia solanacearum (Smith) Yabuuchi et al. (Pseudomonas solanacearum (Smith) Smith) - the harmful organism causing potato brown rot. The regulation consists of seven chapters: Purpose and definition of terms (I); Measures for detection of the harmful organism (II); Diagnosis, detection and identification of the harmful organism (III); Detailed methods for detection of brown rot in potato tubers, potatoes, tomatoes or other host plants with symptoms of the harmful organism (IV); Methods for detection and identification of the harmful organism (V); Methods for detection and identification of the harmful organism in water (VI); and Methods for detection and identification of the harmful organism in soil (VII). The purposes of the regulation are to undertake systematic research for determining the occurrence and spread of the harmful organism; to prevent occurrence, introduction and spread; and, if found, to prevent its spread and to control it with the aim of eradication. The regulation applies to the business operators which undertake primary production, processing and distribution of edible or seed potatoes in Georgia.
