Abstract

This Resolution lays down requirements and conditions necessary for the importation of animal feed and feedstuff (shrimps). The general requirements are: (a) products must be suitable to feed fish and poultry; (b) products shall be free from poisonous and toxic seeds as well as hormonal substances, anabolic steroids, and stimulating substances; (c) the level of radioactivity in products must comply with the levels established by the Syrian Atomic Energy Authority; and, (d) packages of dried shrimps shall have a label containing the name, net weight, country of origin, date of production and expiry date. Particular requirements, and chemical and physical requirements for the importation of shrimps are: (a) dried shrimps must be fresh, recently dried, have a natural smell, and shall contain a maximum of 15 percent of other marine products; (b) the maximum level of humidity shall be 10 percent; (c) the minimum percentage of raw protein shall be 50 percent; (d) the maximum percentage of raw fat shall be 10%; (e) the maximum percentage of edible salt shall be 5.5 percent; (f) the maximum percentage of raw ashes shall be 29 percent; (g) the un-dissolved ashes shall not be more than 4 percent; and, (h) the ammonia shall not be more than 0.5 percent. Shrimps shall be imported only by owners of authorized fish meal laboratories.
