Resolution No. 561 of 2005 on the conditions for the import of frozen beef from the European Union. The imported meat should be from male cattle older than thirty months. The meat should be free from diseases especially brain sponge BSE (mad cow disease) over the last seven years. According to this Resolution, slaughterhouses should be registered and certified by the General Authority. Article 8 states that technical committees should be established to oversee and examine the slaughter of the animals while ensuring the presence of advanced veterinary services systems and traceability and numbering systems to track animals in the countries they are transported to. Those technical committees will monitor and follow-up the mad cow disease situation according to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) . Full text Arabic
