Abstract The Resolution regulates registration and identification of pigs and their stalls. It consists of 14 articles: General provisions (1); Purpose of registration and identification of pigs and their stalls (2); Definition of terms (3); Elements of registration- identification (4); Ear tags (5); Registration of stalls and the stall book (6); Movement document (7); Electronic database (8); Identification-registration of imported pigs (9); Obligations imposed on owners of slaughterhouses (10); Obligations imposed on owners (11); State control (12); Restrictive measures (13); and Liability (14). The Resolution also includes annexes adopting forms that need to be used during compliance control by the state. The Regulation does not apply to individuals owning just one pig unless the pig is moved. The purpose of the document is to regulate a unified database and registration of pigs and their stalls; to have complete information on pigs and ensure their traceability; to protect pigs’ health, manage epidemic situation and ensure veterinary safety; to protect consumer rights and provision of reliable information; to undertake veterinary control of movement and import/export of pigs; and to improve breeding practices.
