Abstract

This Resolution approves the technical regulation about the management plan of the Tusheti Strict Nature Reserve and the Tusheti National Park. It consists of seven chapters: Introduction (I); Description of the Tusheti protected areas (II); Long-term goals (III); Situational analysis (IV); Internal zoning and permitted activities within the Tusheti protected areas (V); Management plan programs (VI); and Monitoring of the management plan (VII). The main goals for creating the Tusheti Strict Nature Reserve are: to maintain and monitor the nature, the natural processes and genetic resources in the dynamic and intact conditions, to conduct scientific and educational activities, to conserve the unique pine and birch forests and to maintain these rare species’ habitats, and their function as preventors of erosion and avalanches, and as water regime regulators. The main goals for creating the Tusheti National Park are: to protect and maintain the mountain landscapes and ecosystems of the national and international importance, to conserve rich flora and fauna, to develop eco-tourism, and to maintain the traditional household activities based on sustainable use of resources.
