Article 1 defines rules and requirements for fishing with fixed nets in the Syrian Arab Republic Territorial Sea. These include: (a) authorization to fish by using fixed nets throughout the year; and, (b) the actual size of the smallest mesh shall be 16mm until 2003, then it shall not be less than 20mm for the following 2 years, lastly the size of the smallest mesh shall be fixed on 25mm from the beginning of 2006. All transgressions and violations shall be subject to the penalties provided for in the Aquatic Living Protection Law and legislation in force (art. 4). All rules and regulations that do not comply with this Resolution are now abrogated (art. 5). Full text Arabic
