Abstract This Resolution approves the Statute of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. The Statute, consisting of 22 articles divided into four Chapters, establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Ministry, entitled to perform the following activities: direction, planning, studies, monitoring and control of government action in the field of labour administration and social security. In addition, the Ministry is responsible for ensuring the execution of policies, strategies and economic and social programmes adopted by the Government. In particular, the Ministry has the following duties: a) implementation of labour laws and regulations consistent with the country's socio-economic development process; b) social consultation with a view to better performance and relationship between the social partners and the promotion of legitimate duties, rights and interests of employers and workers; c) prevention and promotion of the extrajudicial resolution of labour conflicts; d) development of work studies programmes; e) management of the labour market information and observation system; f) development and administration of mandatory social security systems; g) participation in regional and international events related to labour and social security.
