Abstract

This Resolution regulates the types of inventorying of forests, and the requirements and methods for inventorying of forests; methods and procedures for reviewing and approving forest management and forest use plans; rules and methods of monitoring; and rules for categorization of forests. The forest inventory system of Georgia consists of the national forest inventory, forest management and forest information and monitoring systems. The Resolution consists of eight chapters: General provisions (I); National inventory of forest (II); Forest management (III); Forest information and monitoring system (IV); Forest management plan/annual actional plan/special research (V); Rules for categorization of Georgian forests (VI); Transitional regulation of forest use plan (VII); and Transitional provisions (VIII). The forest inventory system of Georgia serves for the research of the ecological state of the forest - assessment, inventorying of forest resources, systematization of the data obtained on the basis of the analysis of the collected materials; developing a forest management plan and, based on this plan, forest protection, maintenance, restoration and rational use of forest resources; and to inform the state bodies and the population of Georgia about the state of forest ecosystems and natural resources of the forest and the measures to be taken for their further use.
