Article 1 halts the issuance of fishing licences for new fishing vessels into the Syrian Territorial Water. Article 2 fixes the number of professional fishing vessels operating in the Syrian Territorial Waters to be not more than 1850 vessels. Construction of a new fishing vessel shall be forbidden except in the case it substitutes a drowned or damaged licensed vessel, provided that the measures of the new vessel are the same of the old one (art. 3). It may be possible to substitute small vessels with new vessels of larger fishing capacity and volume after obtaining a previous licence from the Ministry of Agriculture, on condition that the capacity of the small vessels is equal to the new vessel (art. 4). It may be possible to substitute an old vessel with a new one, with developed requirements and large measures, on condition that the new vessel operates outside the Territorial Sea (art. 5). The fishing licence for pedestrians and amateurs shall be strictly limited to the use of cane or gun (art. 6). Full text Arabic
