Abstract

The Resolution regulates phyto-sanitary control and prevention measures for potato wart disease (Synchytrium endobioticum) that has limited dissemination in Georgia. It consists of 11 articles: General provisions (1); Purpose and scope of application (2); Definition of terms (3); Measures for prevention of the pathogen and for phyto-sanitary control (4); Imposing and terminating quarantine (5); Obligations of business operators and family farmers in quarantine or buffer zones (6); Requirements imposed on scientific and selection activities (7); Cooperation between customs authorities and the National Food Agency (8); Duties of the National Food Agency (9); Duties of Scientific Research Center of Agriculture in developing annual list of varieties resistant against the pathogen (10); and Liability (11). The Resolution aims to undertake long-term measures to control the pathogen and ultimately eliminate it. The rules apply to those business and family producers who are engaged in production, processing and distribution of potato.
