Article 1 gives definition of terms. Bee consignments shall be subject to the control of agricultural quarantine engineers in the crossing points (art. 2). The importation of Apis Melliferascutella, Aethina Tumida, Tropiaelaps species, Apis Cerana, and Apis Dorsata shall be prohibited (arts. 3 and 4). Introduction of bees in UAE without a previous authorization shall be prohibited (art. 5). Importers of bees shall enclose a sanitary certificate from the country of origin confirming that the bees are free from diseases and that they comply with the importation’s requirements and conditions in UAE (art. 6). Article 9 deals with offences and penalties. Annex 1 contains the Honey Bee Importation Authorization Form. The Supplement of Annex 1 contains a list of species which may not be imported as well as a list of bee diseases and pests. Annex 2 lists the quarantine bee diseases and pests.
