The Resolution for most part entered into force from 21 January 2016 and the remaining clauses take effect from 1 January 2020.
Abstract

The Resolution sets unified principles regarding certain substances in food of animal origin and provides rules for periodic monitoring of these substances. Specifically, the substances under the monitoring include substances of anabolic effect, prohibited substances, and veterinary drugs and contaminants. The Resolution among others provides for the duties and rights of the National Food Agency of Georgia in the process of monitoring; the manner the monitoring should be held; provision of information about the monitoring to the public; obligations of business operators in ensuring food safety; obligations of veterinarians; laboratory analysis of residues; isolation or destruction of contaminated animal products; monitoring during slaughtering; and taking samples from animal products including from specific animal products (milk, eggs, wild animals, honey etc).
