This Resolution enters into force on the day of its publication.
Abstract

This Resolution approves the Statute of the Regional Water Administration in Northern Area (ARA-Norte, IP). The Statute, consisting of 33 articles divided into five Chapters, establishes the composition, duties and competencies of the above mentioned Regional public institute entitled for the operational management of water resources and provision of category A services, whose functions are, among others, the management of hydrographic basins, with a focus on land occupation plans and protection zones for the water domain. The ARA-Norte, IP management has the following principles: a) Protection of the environment; b) Adaptation to climate change; c) Prevention and mitigation of floods and droughts; d) Unit and coherence of river basin management; e) Rational and sustainable use of available water resources; f) Polluter pays; g) User pays; h) Conservation of water resources; i) Profitability of hydraulic infrastructures; j) Prevention of harmful effects of water; k) Participatory and integrated management.
