Abstract The Resolution provides requirements for common hazelnuts (Corylus avvellana L., Corulus maxima) and the products produced from their cultivated species. The Regulation consists of seven articles: Purpose and scope of regulation (1); Regulated objects (2); Definition of terms (3); Requirements imposed on the regulated objects (4); Requirements for safety, packaging and labeling of the regulated objects (5); Requirements imposed on business operators (6); and Compliance control of the regulated objects (7). The Regulation also includes Figures: Permitted deviation from the required quality standard for non-cracked hazelnuts (hazelnut shells) (1); Permitted deviation from the required quality standard for the core of hazelnuts (2); Chemical indicators of the processed core of hazelnuts according to classes (3); Permitted deviation from the required quality standard for the core of hazelnuts according to classes and types (4); Permitted deviation from the required quality standard for processed Class II hazelnut cores (peeled, blanched and/or roasted) (5); and Permitted maximum size deviations (in grams) for small packages of processed hazelnut cores (6). Finally, the Regulation also includes a form of Compliance Declaration as its Annex No 1. The document applies to the business operators that export cracked and/or processed hazelnuts. It aims to provide for main principles governing exported hazelnuts.
