Abstract This Resolution provides for the establishment of the Environmental Affairs Department in the Municipality of Dhafaar. The aims of the department are to protect the environment and fight pollution in the Southern Region. Competencies and duties of the department are to: carry out studies concerning pollution sources in the Southern Region; monitor activities of companies and industries to verify the compatibility with the environmental requirements and standards established by the Environmental Protection Council; educate citizens about environmental protection and pollution fighting; and coordinate the different competent authorities in laying down general policies for the use of land in the Southern Region as well as Environmental Impact Assessments.
