Abstract

The aim of this Resolution is to regulate the production and breeding of guinea pigs and the like for laboratory experiments. It is composed of 3 articles. Articles 1 and 2 subject the breeding of guinea pigs and the like intended to laboratory experiments to provisions of Regulator Decree No. 2680 of 1977 and to Resolution No. 824 of 1966 defining requirements and conditions for the breeding and production of guinea pigs in particular: origin of animals should be from regular, sane and pure races; the Technical Committee shall carry out a periodic control and examination of samples to ascertain and verify that are free from diseases; sanitary control of industries and installations by veterinarians; installations should be far from buildings, residences and protected areas; and, availability of sterilization and disinfection means as well as adapted and suitable heat and lighting. Article 3 gives to owners of the aforementioned installations and industries 1 year to from the entry into force of this Resolution to regulate their positions.
