In accordance with Legislative Decree No. 30 of 1964, concerning the protection of aquatic life, particularly article 30 of the said decree, the Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform decides that fishing vesels using previously authorized nets must use nets whose mesh size is not inferior to 18mm. This provision shall apply for an experimental period lasting two productive seasons (15 September to 15 May 1991) (art. 1). The owners of trawling vessels shall submit regular reports on the outcome of overall catches, to be used for research purposes. They shall also carry out experimental fishing operations (art. 2). Decisions on the extension or adoption of experimental methods using different mesh sizes shall be taken with a view to optimizing resource exploitation and conservation (art. 30). Full text English
