Abstract

This Resolution is composed of 10 articles. Article 1 defines the total surface of the protected area, 45,000 hectares, and the boundary dividing it into two parts. Article 2 defines objectives of this protected area which are: (a) protection of wildlife, plants and biodiversity; (b) afforestation; (c) research and development; (d) protection of natural and environmental resources; and (e) soil conservation. The First Part of the protected area shall be 15,000 hectares destined to animal and plant biodiversity (art. 4). Article 5 subjects the aforementioned are to the following departments and offices: General Department of the Protected Area; Forest and Environmental System Department; Pasture and Animal Production Department. The following activities are prohibited within the protected areas: (a) entrance and grazing of livestock; (b) land cultivation, afforestation, digging of wells, discharge of soil and waste disposal; (c) construction of machines and entrance of persons without authorization by the Ministry of Agriculture (art. 7).
