Abstract This Resolution prescribes rights of sovereignty over the natural resources of the sea, sea bed and subsoil thereof to a depth of 200 m. Likewise, Syria exercises sovereignty over the waters of its islands, provided such rights do not interfere with the right of innocent passage in territorial waters and the air space above them. Syria has the sole right to prospect, drill and exploit all living and non-living resources. Non-nationals are prohibited from prospecting or exploiting natural resources as well as from carrying out research without prior consent, by Decision or Resolution, of the President of the Republic.
