Country/Territory Document type Regulation Date 2019 Source FAO, FAOLEX Subject Fisheries Keyword Marine fisheries Fishery management and conservation Data collection/reporting International relations/cooperation Fishing vessel Contract/agreement Fishing authorization Authorization/permit Abstract This Resolution of the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC) provides rules concerning the practice of charter agreements. Such practice might seriously undermine the effectiveness of Conservation and Management Measures established by the IOTC unless properly regulated. Chartering of vessels means an agreement or an arrangement by which a fishing vessel flying the flag of Contracting Party is contracted for a defined period of time by an operator in another Contracting Party without the change of flag. Chartering shall be allowed "predominantly as an initial step in the fishery development of the chartering nation". The chartering agreement shall contain conditions specified in this Resolution. The chartering CP shall timely notify the IOTC Executive Secretary of any vessel to be identified as chartered in accordance with this Resolution by submitting electronically specified information. This information shall be circulated among all Contracting Parties or Cooperating Non-Contracting Parties. The chartering CP shall also report annually on chartering agreements to the IOTC Executive Secretary. Full text English Website www.iotc.org
