Abstract

With a view to ensuring the safety of meat for human consumption, these regulations prohibit the placing on the market as well as the administering to animals (including farm aquaculture animals) of particular chemical products or substances having a thyrostatic, oestrogenic, androgenic or gestagenic action. However, the Director of Veterinary Service may authorize the administering to farm animals of certain substances for therapeutic purposes (reg. 5) or for zootechnical treatment (reg. 6). The use of the hormonal products referred to in regulation 7 shall be prohibited. Further provisions concern trade requirements and import requirements and related checks.
