Abstract

The purpose of the present Act is to promote the establishment of new energy suppliers in the province, enhance the capacity and reliability of the provincial energy supply system for present and future needs, and offer potential price stability. The Act contains a definition clause at the outset containing certain terms employed therein such as, for example, “biofuel”, “Commission”, “environmental attributes”, “large capacity renewable energy generator”, “maximum rated electric output”. The Act deals with, amongst others, issues such as public utilities, submission of energy management plan to the Commission, its approval by the Commission, renewable energy generators, payment of fines, etc.
