Abstract

These Regulations, made under the Fertilizer, Farm Feeds, Agricultural Remedies and Stock Remedies Act, 1947, specify standards and requirements for fertilizers and provide for the registration of fertilizers with the Registrar (not defined) in terms of section 3(1) of the Act. The Regulations set out the conditions for certain registrations and renewal of certain registrations. 'Fertilizer' in these Regulations any substance which is intended or offered to be used for improving or maintaining the growth of plants or the productivity of the soil. The Regulations also concern importation, labelling and packing of fertilizers. Premises where a fertilizer is manufactured, controlled, packed, marked, labelled or stored for the purpose of sale shall be kept orderly and clean and shall be duly registered under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Act No. 85 of 1993.
