Abstract

This Regulations aims at prohibiting production, distribution, import, export, sale and use of specific chemical substances capable of a persistent organic polluting effect. The Regulations define relevant terms, including persistent organic pollutants as chemicals that are of global concern due to their potential for long -range transport, persistence in the environment, ability to impact ecosystems, as well as their significant adverse effects on human health and the environment. The Regulations list the chemical substances and provide for offences and penalties.
