The Regulations therefore aim at: protecting trees and plants of the country; minimising the adverse impacts on the vegetation, the environment, and the wildlife. The Regulations cover the following matters: maintenance of a register of trees in the villages; measures for reducing logging and cutting of trees belonging to the following categories: trees in the coastal vegetation belt, protected trees, endangered trees and vegetation; exceptions and special permission to cut down, move or dig trees; cutting down trees for using them as fuelwood; penalties and offences.
