Abstract

These Regulations aim to protect fishery resources. The Text consists of 20 Articles. The fishery administrative departments at all levels and their administrative organs shall earnestly strengthen the management of the reproductive protection of aquatic resources, establish a fishery licensing system, verify the development quantity and operation types of fishing vessels and fishing gear, register fishing vessels, strengthen supervision and inspection, and ensure the rational utilization of aquatic resources. The Regulations further provide for: principles for the multiplication, protection and rational use of fishery resources; the list of key aquatic animals and plants which should be protected; measures to protect the important and economically valuable aquatic animals and plants and the aquatic environment on which they reproduce and grow; restrictions on harmful fishing gears, fishing methods and activities that are not conducive to the reproduction and protection of fishery resources; offences and penalties, etc.
