Abstract

These Regulations, made by the Minister of Transport Affairs, under section 28 of the Marine Pollution (Control and Civil Liability) Act, implement provisions of the Act in respect of, among other things: application for an insurance certificate referred to in section 14 (1)(a) of the Act; issue by the Director-General of such certificate; detention of ships or tankers; reporting by detention officers; release from detention or seizure; immobilization of ships or tankers; transfer of oil from a ship or tanker to another ship or tanker; precautions prior to and during transfer operation; application for pollution safety certificate; requirements for the construction and operation of offshore installations; combating or preventing pollution from offshore installations; and use of oil dispersants.
