Abstract These Regulations are stipulated and issued in accordance with Article 4 of the Food Safety and Sanitation Act, aiming to provide for the establishment of the Advisory Committee in Genetically Modified Foods. The mission of the Committee is to perform the consultations and recommendations on the management and supervision of the genetically modified foods. Article 2 provides for the specific duties of the Committee. The Committee shall made up of 13 to 17 members as appointed by the Minister of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, which consists of scholars and experts specializing in food sanitation, nutrition, molecular biology, medicine, toxicology, agriculture, and law (art.3).
