Abstract

The present Regulation, issued by the Swedish Food Agency, applies to the handling of food from animals which have been treated with: 1. medicines, including ex-tempore prepared and homeopathic medicines; and 2. certain pesticides containing pharmacologically active substances. It also applies when processing fish, in the circumstances specified by the Regulation. Food from animals undergone these treatments may not be used for food purposes or placed on the market during the withdrawal periods. Specific rules regarding withdrawal periods for different substances are included in the Regulation. The Annex lists vitamin and mineral preparations, physiological saline solutions, carbohydrates etc. which can be used for all food producing animals without withdrawal periods.
