It aims at protecting public health and the environment against damages caused by waste production. Waste prevention and reduction of harzadous waste is among the main principles of the Regulation. Article 4 provides for the classification of waste. Further the Regulation defines the functions of the State Enterprise for Public Services («Azienda Autonoma di Stato per i Servizi Pubblici» - A.A.S.S.) which shall be in charge of waste management services.
