Abstract

The present Regulation, adopted by the Swedish Food Agency, lays down provisions on total diet replacement for weight control, including total diet replacement with very low energy content. It complements Regulation (EU) No. 609/2013. Total dietary replacements for weight control shall have the composition and nature as set out in Annexes 1 and 2 of this Regulation. Total dietary replacements for weight control with very low energy content refers to such products that replace the entire daily ration and the total daily ration amounts to less than 3360 kJ (800 kcal). The marketing of such products require an authorization from the Swedish Food Agency. Further rules are contained on food information to consumers, product standards, vitamins and mineral contents, etc.
