Abstract

The present Regulation, adopted by the Swedish Food Agency, lays down provisions on the treatment of food and food ingredients with ionizing radiation, as well as import and marketing of foods and food ingredients treated with ionizing radiation. Only herbs, spices and flavoring ingredients of vegetable origin may be treated with ionizing radiation. The Regulation contains rules on the conditions for the irradiation of food, packaging and labelling requirements, irradiation establishments, imports from third countries, etc.
