Abstract This Regulation sets forth provisions on the purpose, scope, management, functions and administration of the center of the Hakkari University. The main functions of the research and application centre on biodiversity of the Hakkari University are (I) to carry out research for the conservation and development of biodiversity, habitats, living resources, genetic resources, protected areas, natural resources and the environment in a sustainable manner, (II) strengthen the coordination and cooperation with the relevant actors, and to develop a biodiversity database, (III) to raise environmental awareness of the general public through tours, meetings, training sessions and publications, (IV) to follow the latest developments at the national and international level, (V) to carry out joint studies with national and international organizations in the fields of in situ conservation and genetic resources in accordance with the biotechnological developments, (VI) to provide consultancy in the fields of conservation, management, development and sustainable use of natural resources and biodiversity, (VII) to ensure fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising out of the utilization of genetic resources, and (VIII) to establish gene banks, greenhouse, herbarium and arboretum.
