Abstract

This Regulation sets forth the obligations, procedures and principles governing drought management in the agricultural sector, which includes the setting up of the following institutions: (i) Agricultural Drought Management Coordination Board, (ii) Risk Assessment Committee, (iii) Monitoring, Early Warning and Prediction Committee, (iv) Data Flow Unit, and (v) Working Group. The principal obligations of the Coordination Board are, inter alia, to prepare and ensure the implementation of a plan of action against drought; to ensure coordination among the competent institutions and agencies; to monitor, supervise and assess the conclusions of the plan of action.
