Abstract

This Regulation lays out rules for the establishment, structure, duties and working conditions of the National Nutrition Council. The purposes of the establishment of the Council are to improve the existing conditions for the prevention and control of nutrition-related diseases; promote healthy nutrition throughout the country; and to make recommendations for policies and strategies related to health and diseases directly or indirectly related to nutrition and beverages throughout the country. The duties of the Council are (I) to develop policies and strategies for healthy nutrition and to monitor the implementation; (II) to support programs within the national program, action plans and targets developed in accordance with the needs-assessment; (III) to raise public awareness on healthy nutrition to ensure behaviour change in relation to diet and lifestyle; (IV) to support R&D projects in the relevant field; (V) to organize seminars and conferences for capacity building; (VI) to strengthen the coordination, information sharing and cooperation between the Ministry and the relevant organizations; (VII) to monitor and evaluate the behaviour change in relation to diet and lifestyle; (VIII) to update legislations and make necessary amendments; (IX) to establish scientific commission to prevent diseases directly or indirectly related to nutrition and beverages throughout the country; (X) to make necessary precautions against deceptive, misleading perception advertisements; and (XI) to deliver opinions and suggestions for economic and social measures to ensure that every consumer has the right to access adequate and healthy food.
