Abstract This Regulation lays down rules for the control, monitoring, surveillance and restrictions on movements of animals and animal products in relation to bluetongue, in and from the restricted zones. This Regulation sets forth provisions on notification of bluetongue, suspicion, vaccination, epidemiological survey, control measures in the protection and surveillance zones, restrictions on movements of animals and of their semen, ova and embryos, conditions for exemption from the exit ban, further conditions for the transit of animals, bluetongue monitoring and surveillance programmes, entomological monitoring, conditions for vector-free enterprises, protection of animals against attacks by vectors, criteria for the slaughterhouses exempted from the exit ban, risk assessment, emergency plan, and capacity building. This Regulation is drafted in accordance with the Commission Regulation (EC) No 1266/2007 of 26 October 2007 on implementing rules for Council Directive 2000/75/EC as regards the control, monitoring, surveillance and restrictions on movements of certain animals of susceptible species in relation to bluetongue.
