Abstract

This Regulation of the Minister of Marine Economy and Inland Navigation, which is composed of 26 articles and 27 Annexes, lays down: (1) elements of quality for the classification of ecological status of homogeneous parts of surface water in natural watercourses, lakes and other natural basins, transitional waters and coastal waters, and for the classification of ecological potential of artificial homogeneous parts of surface water and strongly modified parts of surface water; (2) definitions of the classification of ecological status, ecological potential and chemical status of homogeneous parts of surface water; (3) types of surface waters and categories of these waters; (4) the method of classifying the status of homogeneous parts of surface waters, including: (a) physico-chemical, biological and hydro-morphological elements on the basis of quality factors for individual categories of homogeneous parts of water including different types of surface water; (b) ecological status of homogeneous parts of water in natural watercourses, lakes and other natural basins, transitional waters and coastal waters; (c) ecological potential of artificial and highly modified homogeneous parts of surface waters; (d) chemical status of homogeneous parts of surface water and environmental quality standards for priority substances and for other pollutants used to classify this status. The present Act also lays down the method of interpreting results of tests of quality factors specified above, the method of assessment of the status of homogeneous parts of surface water, the method of presenting classification results, and frequency of classifying elements specified above, ecological status, ecological potential and chemical status of homogenous parts of surface water.
