Abstract According to this Regulation light electronic vehicles are motor vehicles with an electronic drive and a design related with maximum speed of not less than 6 km/h and not more than 20 km/h. A light electronic vehicle is self-balancing if it is equipped with integrated electronic balance, propulsion, steering and deceleration technology that keeps it self-balanced. A small electric vehicle may only be put into operation on public roads if it corresponds to a type for which a general or individual operating permit has been issued, there is valid insurance and it is marked with a vehicle identification number and a manufacturer's plate. Persons who have reached the age of 14 are entitled to drive a light electronic vehicle. The lighting system can be supplied via a coupling to the energy store for the drive.
