Abstract This Regulation prescribes the methods of assignment of the official name, mark and unique identification number for vessel, also called ENI or Unique European Vessel Identification Number. For the purposes of this Regulation, boats shall not be considered as vessels. Chapter V sets out the allocation procedure; Chapter III offers the classification of different types of vessel markings in accordance with their specific purpose or technical function.
