Abstract This Regulation provides the methods of testing for white (Sinapis alba L.) and black (Brassica nigra (L.) W.D.J.Koch) mustard varieties plant varieties in experimental fields and in laboratories, in order to recognize the exact variety. The methods here provided are aimed to examine certain essential characteristics of a specific variety, in order to determine: 1) production and use values of the variety (VCU test); 2) variety, uniformity and stability of the variety (DUS test). The production and use value of a variety is determined on the basis of the results of testing over its essential characteristics that are related to: 1) grain yield (with 10% moisture); 2) grain moisture content (%); 3) grain oil content (%); 4) fatty acid content; 5) mass of 1000 grains (g); 6) hectoliter mass; 7) average number of bushes per plant; 8) average number of seeds (grains) in the pods; 9) cracking of the sleeve; 10) tolerance, and/or resistance to diseases and pests; 11) length of vegetation.
