Abstract This Regulation provides technical and procedural test methods for millet plant varieties (Panicum miliaceum L.), to be performed on experimental fields and in laboratories, for the purpose of plant variety recognition. Methods here provided are aimed to examine certain essential characteristics of analyzed variety, in order to determine: 1) better production and use values of the variety (VCU test); and 2) variety, uniformity and stability of the variety (DUS test) Production and use value of the variety (VCU test) is determined on the basis of results of testing over certain essential characteristics of the variety and related to the following five elements: 1) grain yield; 2) grain quality; 3) grain moisture content at the moment of harvest; 4) resistance or tolerance to diseases and pests; 5) tolerance to a particular herbicide. The variety shall be tested by comparing essential characteristics under examination with essential characteristics of one or more standard varieties of the same plant type, in accordance with the Serbian Law governing the recognition of agricultural plant varieties.
