Abstract

The Forestry Development Authority prescribes areas where production of charcoal and fuelwood shall be prohibited so as to protect such areas against deforestation or desertification. Such areas include mangrove swamps, watershed areas, national forests, national parks and other protected areas. A temporary ban on the export of charcoal is introduced. A programme for reforestation in areas with a shortage of fuelwood shall be established.
