Sprygyn” shall have the status of state environmental protection, scientific research and educational institution with the scope of conservation and study of unique natural processes, wild animal and wild plant genetic resources, some animal and plant populations, and unique ecosystems. State nature reserve “Zhiguli state nature reserve named after I.I. Sprygyn”shall be located on the territory of Samara province. Reserve shall have the following purposes: (a) conservation, recovery and reproduction of wild fauna and biological diversity, and ecosystem preservation; (b) research; (c) ecological monitoring; (d) ecological education; and (e) training of scientific personnel. The following activities shall be prohibited on the territory of reserve: (a) all types of hunting; (b) any activity that can cause modification of the existing hydrological regime; (c) transit passage of cattle; (d) construction; (e) application of chemicals and fertilizers; (f) timber extraction and procurement of non-timber forest products; and (h) introduction and acclimatization of living organisms.
