It is located on the territory of Krasnodar region, Republic of Adygeya and the Republic of Karachevo-Cherkassya. Reserve shall have the following purposes: (a) conservation of biological diversity, and ecosystem preservation; (b) research; (c) ecological monitoring; (d) ecological education; and (e) training of scientific personnel. The following activities shall be prohibited on the territory of reserve: (a) all types of hunting; (b) industrial fisheries; (c) land reclamation and irrigation; (d) construction; (e) application of chemicals and fertilizers; (f) timber extraction, logging and procurement of non-timber forest products; and (h) introduction and acclimatization of living organisms.
