Land tenants on the territory of protection zone shall be agricultural cooperatives, collective farms, state agricultural enterprises, farms, forestry enterprises and other organizations. Protection zone of Central Forest state natural biosphere reserve is formed in order to protect the reserve's lands from adverse anthropogenic impacts on adjacent land plots and water areas. Protection zone is area with regulated and supervised regime of restricted economic activity aimed at rational management of natural resources for the purpose of sustainable socio-economic development of the territory through promotion of different types of entrepreneurial activities, promotion and support of the renewal of arts and crafts. Protection zone shall perform the following tasks: (a) protection and improvements of habitats of protected wild fauna and wild flora species; (b) protection of the populations of wild fauna and wild flora species; (c) resettlement and re-acclimatization of valuable and rare species of plants and animals in adjacent territories or in their former habitats; (d) elaboration and testing of registration and regulation of the number of game; (e) application of biotechnical arrangements; (f) protection of berry fields and feeding plants for wild animals and birds; (g) ecological monitoring; (h) long-term scientific experimental research; and (i) ecological tourism and environmental education. The following activities shall be prohibited in the protection zone: (a) application of chemicals; (b) drainage of raised bogs and peat extraction; (с) application of minerals and storage thereof in the open air; (d) procurement of soft resin of coniferous species; (e) exploration; (f) harvesting of rare and endangered wild flora species; (g) unauthorized fishing and hunting of all types; (h) harvesting of wild growing berries and mushrooms by non-residents; and (i) forest management activities shall be authorized by the regional administration.
