According to the Regulation, continuous assessment of the water quality and detection of the polluting factors are duties of the Department of Environment (DEO). This Department also sets standards for permitted level of pollution and provides systematic sampling from sewage. Establishment of any industrial, agricultural or animal husbandry units, as well as new residential township are only possible with specific license regarding the compliance with environmental standards.
