Abstract This Regulation, based on the provisions of the Slovenian Veterinary Compliance Criteria Act, determines the obligations of operators, conditions for movements and placing on the market, official control, conditions for the use of antimicrobial agents and vaccines, obligations of laboratories that carry out investigations of operators and official sample investigations, rules for sampling operators and rules of official sampling, measures in the case of detection of salmonella and measures in the event of an outbreak of foodborne infection in humans and requirements for the qualification of persons taking samples for the implementation of the national salmonella control programme in turkey flocks. These rule are also provided in order to implement the following EU legislation: Regulation (EC) No. 2160/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the control of salmonella and other specified food-borne zoonotic agents; Commission Regulation (EC) No. 1177/2006 implementing Regulation (EC) No. 2160/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards requirements for the use of specific control methods in the framework of the national programmes for the control of salmonella in poultry; Commission Regulation (EC) No. 584/2008 implementing Regulation (EC) No. 2160/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards a Community target for the reduction of the prevalence of Salmonella enteritidis and Salmonella typhimurium in turkeys.
