Abstract

This Regulation declares that in order to prevent the occurrence and spread of avian influenza throughout the Republic of Croatia, the following measures are determined: 1) It is obligatory to keep poultry and feathered game in breeding in enclosed areas in such a way that any contact with wild birds is prevented; 2) It is obligatory to keep ducks, geese and other waterfowl separate from other animals; 3) It is obligatory to keep feeders and drinkers for poultry and feathered game and birds in captivity in closed or covered areas where the landing of wild birds and contacts of wild birds with food and water are prevented; 4) It is prohibited to supply poultry, game birds and captive birds with water from surface water tanks to which wild birds have access; 5). The use of external water tanks for poultry, game birds and captive birds is prohibited unless they are sufficiently protected from wild waterfowl; 6) It is obligatory to store food for poultry, game birds and captive birds in such a way that it is protected from wild birds and other animals; 7) It is obligatory to report all changes in the health status and behavior of poultry, game and birds in captivity; 8) It is obligatory to report the death and any contact of poultry, game and birds in captivity with potentially infected, to the competent authorized veterinary organization; 9) It is obligatory to keep poultry and game birds at fairs, markets, exhibitions, shows and cultural events indoors or in closed housing without the possibility of contact with other animals and wild birds; 10) It is obligatory to ensure and maintain hygienic conditions and biosecurity measures at all facilities for breeding and keeping poultry, game birds and captive birds and at fairs, markets, exhibitions, events and cultural events, ie at all locations where poultry, game birds and captive birds temporarily reside.
